Intellectual Property Law for International Business
Module code: LW7083
The module is for students interested in IP law and its application in modern business contexts. Given that IP-intensive industries contribute over £298 billion to UK economic output and supporting 4.56 million jobs (UKIPO, 2022), a comprehensive understanding of the importance of IP assets to business is an essential skill for the modern commercial lawyer.

Through the use of realistic case-studies that mirror real-world IP situations, you will develop key legal skills including case evaluation, legal research and critical analysis of primary and secondary sources of law.
Core topics covered include:
- Patent, copyright, and trade mark law fundamentals
- IP licensing and commercial transactions
- IP as financial assets and investment vehicles
