Industrial economics takes a look at the decision making, the economic and social outcomes, and the competition and regulation policies, involving firms, industries and policy authorities.
In this module you will study how companies may create and sustain competitive advantages and dominant positions in the industries where they operation and compete, Firms pursue competitive strategies in different dimensions, while their product characteristics, as well as competition, regulation and industrial policies affect the way they compete.
You will investigate how firms compete but also how they may try to limit competition. It will outline these topics to help you gain a better understanding of firms' strategic interaction to explain firms' decisions and the resulting consequences for consumers and society.
