Arctic eco-thriller White Road by Dr Harry Whitehead releasedÂ
, the new novel by the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Dr Harry Whitehead has been published today.
Set in the Canadian Arctic, White Road is a gripping eco-thriller about an oil rig that explodes just as winter is setting in. The novel follows Carrie Essler, a Scottish rescue swimmer; Ross, the owner of an oil rig; and Amaruq, an Inuvialuit oil-rig worker.
Stranded on the Arctic ice with a starving polar bear and a half-dead stranger, Carrie’s left with nothing but deadly choices, while Ross and Amaruq face their own crossroads aboard the burning rig. Lives hang on their decisions.
Dr Harry Whitehead is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and the director The Centre for New Writing. He is also the director of the University's annual free literature festival, Literary Leicester.
Dr Whitehead also wrote The Cannibal Spirit, published in 2011.
A launch party for White Road is set to take place on Wednesday, 1st October at the David Wilson Library (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ). .
Dr Whitehead is celebrating his new novel by appearing at several book festivals in the coming months. .
