Student ID Card obligations

Your student card is very important part of your studies, as it allows you access to University building, to borrow books from the Library, register your attendance at lectures and seminars, and much more.

Due to the cards importance, there are certain obligations you have during your studies, regarding your student ID card. These are outlined below: 

  • While on campus, you should have your student ID card with you at all times,
  • You should never leave you student ID card unattended or accessible in public or University spaces. For example, if you are studying in the Library, you should take your card with you, especially if you plan on exiting the Library turnstiles.
  • If a member of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Staff (such as Security) or an Official from the Students Union asks to inspect your card, you must provide them with your student ID card.
  • You should never allow another person to use your card, including fellow students, friends or family. Cases where this occurs may be treated as student misconduct.
  • You can only have one student ID card in circulation at any one time. If a card is faulty and needs replacing, the faulty card will be shredded by University staff once a replacement is made, Please note that student ID cards remain the property of the University at all times.
  • If your student ID cards is lost or you should replace it as soon as you are able to.

Although it is not an obligation, we also recommend that you do not store you card next to mobile devices, for example inside a phone case. This is because doing so may deactivate your student ID card and impact your access to rooms and your attendance record.
